**Patient Partner Navigator & Research Coordinator**:
**Primary Purpose**:
In this dual role, the Patient Partner Navigator & Research Coordinator will work closely with the Pediatric Research Office within the Department of Pediatrics. The navigator will partner with staff at the Saskatchewan Centre for Patient Oriented Research (SCPOR) to amplify existing programming and materials including PEARL and the POR Alliance. Newly developed materials are expected to align with existing SCPOR materials to maintain consistent provincial messaging on patient-oriented research. The navigator will also collaborate with stakeholders from USask, SHA, and community partners.

The Patient Partner Navigator will develop a provincial pediatric research patient partner research program. They will develop, execute and evaluate the pediatric patient partner program and project activities through a coordinated, interdisciplinary approach. They will support and lead subcommittees, working groups and project teams. This navigator will plan and implement activities related to patient partners in research.

In the research coordinator role, they will work alongside the research office to support all types of research within the Department of Pediatrics, with a special emphasis on patient-oriented research.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:

- Develop a provincial pediatric patient and family partnership network for Pediatric Research in Saskatchewan. This will include supervising and evaluating the performance of patient and family partners, recruiting patient and family partners; screening applicants, conducting interviews and making final selection decisions. Provides orientation and training to patient and family partners, follows up on any issues or concerns and addresses performance issues.
- Proactively investigate patient-oriented funding strategies and makes recommendations to pediatric researchers for individual or collaborative research projects
- Provide a link between faculty and SCPOR, SHA patient partner programs, research institutes, and other existing research resources as they pertain to patient-oriented research
- Work with trainees who are interested in patient-oriented research to build their research skills as they pertain to patient-oriented research.
- Develop a Pediatric Patient Partner framework that includes diverse populations including members of First Nations, and Métis patients and other underserved populations.
- Lead, collaborate, and actively participate in the development of strategic and operational plans to optimize pediatric patient-oriented research in the department of pediatrics.

**Education**: A level of education equivalent to a Master’s degree in a related health discipline from a recognized program. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

**Experience**:
Experience and training in patient-oriented research and/or patient partner engagement

Minimum of two years of experience working in a research administrative environment, preferably in a University setting. Experience with health sciences research but also with interdisciplinary programs, proposal development, granting agencies, project management, budgeting and scientific writing are required.

- Experience in community-based approaches for support and clinical interventions in pediatric care.
- Experience with program development and strategic planning.

**Salary**: The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $70,687.50 - 99,001.50 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
