**Job Overview**
As a Journeyperson Carpenter at Banyan, you will play a vital role in our construction projects. This position offers the opportunity to showcase your expertise in various carpentry tasks while working alongside a skilled team in a collaborative environment.
**Responsibilities**
Plan and Drawing Interpretation:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to understand and implement design specifications accurately.
Formwork Assembly and Installation:
- Demonstrated ability to assemble and install both wood and engineered formwork systems.
- Experience in setting up formwork for various structural elements, including foundations, footings, retaining walls, columns, beams, suspended slabs, and shafts.
Structural Formwork Construction:
- Capable of building structural formwork for a range of concrete components.
- Expertise in constructing formwork systems that adhere to design requirements for durability and load-bearing capacity.
Versatility in Formwork Applications:
- Experience in working on diverse formwork projects, including but not limited to foundations, footings, retaining walls, columns, beams, suspended slabs, and shafts.
Adherence to Other Labour Duties:
- Willingness to perform other assigned labour duties as needed.
- Flexibility and adaptability to contribute to various aspects of construction work beyond formwork assembly when required.
**Education and Experiences**:
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in formwork construction.
- Proficiency in interpreting construction drawings/blueprints.
- Experience using engineered formwork systems (Aluma, Doka, Ulma, etc.)
- Experience erecting and dismantling formwork
- Experience with robotic total stations (considered an asset)
- Red Seal Certified (considered an asset)
**Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
Proficient in Tool Usage:
- Ability to use a variety of tools including a laser level, skill saw, pin drill, sawzall, and other hand tools.
- Can work independently and efficiently with mínimal supervision
Modern Construction Practices:
- Solid understanding of contemporary construction practices.
- Knowledgeable about the latest techniques and technologies in construction.
Technical Building Knowledge:
- Familiarity with the principles of forming to ensure proper dimensions of concrete structures.
Concrete Construction Expertise:
- Thorough knowledge of practices, methods, equipment, materials, and tools used in concrete construction and maintenance.
Safety Record:
- Strong commitment to safety with a proven safety record.
- Ability to promote and ensure a safe working environment.
Building Code Knowledge:
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
Leadership and Site Management:
- Proven experience in leadership roles.
- Effective management of both people and construction sites.
Communication Skills:
- Demonstrated effective communication skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.

- Proven track record of accomplishments in the construction industry.
