The Avalon program was established in 1998 for the purpose of providing specialized treatment for youngsters whose needs are complex (mental health concerns, emotional issues, trauma, developmental delay, etc.)
Many of the young people that reside at Avalon come from environments lacking in structure, consistency and positive reinforcement. Others have come from healthy, loving families who are no longer able to manage their difficult behaviours or keep them safe in a community setting. Avalon currently runs group care facilities and treatment foster homes.
Avalon is currently looking for Child and Youth Workers at Avalon Lighthouse Program, approximately 15 minutes east of Guelph. This home is a five-bedroom home for dually diagnosed children and teens and specializes in housing children on the Autism spectrum.
These positions involve working evenings, weekends and overnights, with the opportunity to pick up day shifts if available. Currently, full and part-time positions are available. A degree or diploma in the Social Services is required. The rate of pay is $21.00 per hour, plus a $3 wage enhancement from the Ontario government (total $24 per hour) until further notice.
**Salary**: $24.00 per hour
