**Position Summary**: The Genetic Counsellor will provide comprehensive genetic counselling services, including risk assessment and interpretation of genetic test results. The role involves collaborating with other healthcare professionals to integrate genetics into client care and offering support and education on genetics-related inquiries.

**Responsibilities**:
- Conduct genetic risk assessments and provide counselling for patients and families at risk for hereditary conditions, especially cancer and cardiac genetics.
- Review and interpret genetic test results, effectively communicating findings to patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Provide support and guidance to MDs and ANPs regarding genetic information and its implications for patient care.
- Stay abreast of provincial health processes for genetic testing and interface with private genetic testing entities as required.
- Facilitate informed decision-making by patients and their families regarding their genetic health.
- Serve as a resource for the healthcare team on the latest developments in genetic counselling.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of patient care plans.
- Engage in continuous education to maintain expertise in genetic counselling and related fields.
What you bring:
- Master of Science in Genetic Counselling from an accredited program.
- Certification by the Canadian Board of Genetic Counselling (CBGC) and/or the American Board of Genetic Counsellors (ABGC), or eligible for certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in genetic counseling, with a preference for experience in cancer, cardiac genetics, and prenatal/pre-conception genetics in a clinical setting.
- Thorough understanding of medical, clinical, and laboratory genetics principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including proficiency in telephone counseling.
- Superior critical thinking, organizational, time management, and decision-making abilities.
- Proven teaching skills and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Demonstrated leadership and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Dedication to evidence-based, family-centered care.
- Advanced computer skills or the willingness and ability to learn new computer programs quick

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Pay: $46.00-$56.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 - 6 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
