**The opportunity**
The role involves day-to-day support of global immigration with activities ranging from gathering information, status reporting, drafting documentation, to collaborating closely with clients and Government departments and much more. The Immigration Specialist will be in direct contact with various partners and will be required to have a good understanding of immigration processes in multiple jurisdictions.
**Responsibilities**:
- Act as the primary liaison for administrative guidance associated with Global Immigration
- Understand basic immigration processing categories and requirements for a variety of foreign jurisdictions
- Initiate new and extended work authorizations globally with appropriate vendor depending on region, following up with employees and managers;
- Act as liaison between the Talent Acquisition group, hiring managers, HRPs and outside immigration counsel(s) for new hires, Intracompany Transferees and other employees needing an employer-sponsored visa or visa extension;
- Problem-solve, field and respond to daily inquiries around work authorization situations;
- Coordinate the signing of all Employer-sponsored visa Petitions (US);
- Proactively track work authorization statuses globally and ensure appropriate follow-up with partners;
- Lead US I-9 reverifications for renewals, new work authorizations, and Green Cards;
- Lead temporary SIN (Canada) statuses, track and follow-up as appropriate;
- Lead and maintain trackers and SharePoint site for the US immigration process;
- Maintain the integrity of Workday to keep it the system of record for work authorizations globally;
- Liaise with immigration counsel and management ensuring issues are dealt with and/or escalated appropriately
- Ensure effective records retention and tracking of all information for employee immigration files for both internal/external audit
- Own any ad hoc projects or pulling together spreadsheets of information as required by senior and/or management
- Review and approve Global Immigration Support Letters for Business Travel;
- Finalize Canadian PR Express Entry letters;
- Provide timely responses to client queries
- Lead client expectations regarding upcoming expiries and required actions
