**Salary**: $24.44 to $30.17 hourly

**Wage Benefits**:

- Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.
- 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays.
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay.

**Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Program**
Aquatic invasive species (AIS) threaten Alberta’s freshwater resources. The Alberta Government is invested in addressing AIS to minimize impacts through the Aquatic Invasive Species Program supported by five elements: 1) policy and legislation, 2) education and outreach, 3) monitoring of water bodies, 4) watercraft inspections and decontaminations and 5) response.

As an AIS Technician, you will be supporting Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) work in Alberta. This position will provide a supporting role on AIS response and outreach priorities; including flowering rush management around Lake Isle (a Minister and MLA priority), provincial response planning and execution on AIS occurrences, support approvals for response efforts, continue education/awareness engagement with the public, and support monitoring efforts.

**Qualifications**:
**Required**:

- A completed high school diploma plus 12 months of related experience.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or equivalent).
- Current First Aid certification (CPR Level C).

Equivalences may be considered: Additional related education considered in lieu of experience on a one-for-one basis.

**Assets**
- Experience conducting field work.
- Experience with or demonstrated training in aquatic invasive species.
- Experience in communicating with stakeholders and the general public, verbally and in writing.
- Experience being in and around water bodies.

- This competition is for various temporary wage positions located in Edmonton, Forestry Building, 6th Floor, 9920 108 Street.
- 36.25 hours per week. Overtime may be encountered on occasion.
- Length of employment is dependent upon operational needs, with a proposed timeline of May to Oct 31, 2025.

Please note that to work province wide and on various species, you will be required to work a flexible schedule that includes overnight travel, with some weekend work, potentially throughout the field season.
