**Victoria Women’s Transition House (VWTH)** is looking for a casual **Children's Activity Worker** to join our growing team.

We are a non-profit charity, providing emergency shelter, counselling and support services for women of all ages, with or without children, fleeing from intimate partner violence and abuse. We are a vibrant, collaborative community looking for exceptional people to help us grow as we work towards our mission of ending intimate partner violence.

**Details of the Position**:
This position provides appropriate activities for children residing at Transition House and supports their mothers by assisting them with child minding, routines and role modeling effective parenting skills.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

- To provide appropriate activities for children residing in Transition House including suitable craft projects, outdoor games and quiet inside activities for children in residence.
- To organize outings for small groups of children staying at Transition House.
- To assist mothers with meal and bedtime preparation and general care of the children.
- To provide limited childcare for mothers attending appointments or taking car of commitments in-house e.g. Meal preparation, support group attendance, etc.

**Shift**:
On call - shift times and days vary - must be available for weekend shifts

**Qualifications**:
Degree or Diploma in Child and Youth Care, Early Childhood Education and/or experience in related area.

Excellent communication skills; experience in working within a team approach; flexibility, creativity, initiative
- Well-developed interpersonal, counselling, oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organization, time and general management skills
- Knowledge of group process and facilitation techniques
- The ability to work effectively with other program staff, therapists, social workers, and other related personnel.

This position supports an essential service working with direct client contact and requires union membership, satisfactory completion of a criminal records search, TB test and Standard First Aid Certificate.

**Wage and Benefits**:
This is a union position and starts at $22.92 per hour plus percentage in lieu of STAT holiday pay and Vacation pay.
