Rosalie Hall is an accredited Child and Youth Mental Health Centre located in East Toronto. We provide a comprehensive range of specialized care and treatment services and infant mental health interventions focusing on the needs of pregnant youth, young parents, their children, and families. Included in our range of services is an Education and Community Partnership School Program for young women/female-identified individuals that operates in collaboration with the Toronto Catholic District School Board and the Toronto District School Board.
We are searching for a full-time Social Worker to function as part of the multidisciplinary school resource team to make an impact for pregnant and parenting youth
The Social Worker assigned to the Education and Community Partnership Program will be responsible to provide intake, assessment, individual/dyadic supportive counselling and group facilitation to pregnant youth, young mothers, their children, and families. The services are delivered through an evidence-informed and trauma-focused lens to support optimal young parent and infant mental health outcomes. This role reports to the Clinical Director.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Promote a welcoming and therapeutic environment within the ECPP program that is culturally safe and promotes equity, anti-racism, and anti-oppression.
- Complete intake and service planning for clients in the ECPP program and facilitate additional referrals as required.
- Complete standardized assessments and prepare working formulations for clients sharing with other members of the multidisciplinary team as required.
- Collaborate in coordinating, actively participating and maintaining documentation for the School Resource Team, a multidisciplinary group made up of all ECPP staff and other relevant staff.
- Interact closely with clients and provide counselling and support to those assigned as part of the worker’s case load in accordance with the policies and procedures determined by Rosalie Hall ensuring documentation of interactions according to professional standards.
- Intervene effectively promoting safety planning, referrals, and follow-up for at-risk clients.
- Provide instruction and mentoring to broaden clients’ life skill abilities in individual and group settings as opportunities arise.
- Collaborate with others to plan and deliver specialized activities and events for clients including holiday celebrations, extracurricular activities, off-site field trips and graduation ceremonies. Contribute to group program facilitation through the Young Parent Hub according to current programming underway.
- Share information on community resources with clients and support them to utilize those appropriate to the unique circumstances of each young parent and infant/child.
- Supervise placement students as required offering an environment that supports learning, development, guidance, and evaluation.
- Function as a member of the Community Team providing support and coverage for peers, on occasion, as required as well as participating in the rotation of On-Call Back Up Support to the Live-in Treatment program.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent education and experience
- 2 years of successful experience working with vulnerable youth, young parents, and families with children (0 to 6 years) with an understanding of risk management and safety planning.
- Current CPI, CPR and First Aid Training
- Strong clinical skills in assessment, formulation, and support with an ability to use relevant evidence-based/evidence-informed trauma and attachment assessments and interventions to engage and work with individuals, dyads, and families.
- Infant mental health knowledge/training and expertise in other complementary approaches including Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills to promote distress tolerance and the development of coping strategies would be beneficial.
- Sensitivity to an anti-bias/anti-oppressive approach to service and a commitment to dismantling all forms of discrimination with an emphasis on Anti-Black Racism.
- Knowledge of related policy agendas and relevant legislation that impact the delivery of special education and child and youth mental health and mandated service.
- Developed ability to consult and collaborate with team members and professionals in other disciplines both within the agency and in the community.
- Advanced administrative, project management and organizational skills including time management and the ability to demonstrate flexibility to address competing demands.
- French language proficiency is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proficient computer skills.
- Clearance through the Vulnerable Sector Screening process.
**Hours**:40 hours per week, occasional evenings and weekends as required
