Collaborative Community Food Network Coordinator

The Nova Scotia Government has been piloting Collaborative Food Networks (CFNs) in communities that have demonstrated a need for food security support. As the Coordinator of the Cumberland County CFN, you will play an integral part connecting with people through food using innovative approaches to food insecurity.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Support existing food support programming within Maggie’s Place mandate. Develop, plan, and facilitate new programming encompassing nutrition, cooking, and food security geared toward children, youth, and adults.
- Collaborate with other teams within Maggie’s Place as well as community partners and local stakeholders to maintain and develop initiatives that enhance human-centered and choice-based food security policies and procedures within our communities.
- Coordinate the program budget ensuring that strategies, goals, and objectives are met and that the project operates within the mandate of Maggie’s Place.
- Coordinate and communicate regularly with the provincial project funder on work plans, timelines, budgets, and provide regular updates including evaluations and reports.
**Qualifications**:
- Experience facilitating community programs for children, youth, and adults
- Excellent organizational, communication & interpersonal skills
- Able to work effectively as a team member as well as independently
- Knowledge and understanding of the challenges, strengths, capacities, and barriers faced by those struggling with food insecurity
- Knowledge and understanding of the diversity of families and communities and the importance of culturally competent practice.
- Knowledge of community resources, programs, and services
- Familiarity and experience with government and community grant funding within the non-profit sector would be considered an asset
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
- Willingness to be trained in CPR and First Aid, and Safe Food Handling
**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary, Contract
Contract length: 20 months
Pay: $41,696.00-$47,847.00 per year
