Deckhand

Overview:
Amherstburg Ferry Company is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Ferry Deckhands. As a Ferry Deckhand, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vessels, facilitating the loading and unloading of passengers and vehicles, and contributing to the overall exceptional experience of our customers.

**Responsibilities**:

- Securing Vessel: Safely secure the vessel at the dock for loading and unloading operations.
- Guiding Drivers: Provide clear direction to drivers for the orderly loading and offloading of vehicles.
- Shift Work: Be available for shift work, including weekends and holidays, to ensure uninterrupted ferry services.
- Weather Endurance: Work outdoors in all weather conditions, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
- Mechanical Inspection: Perform general inspection of mechanical systems onboard, reporting any issues promptly for maintenance.
- Training: Participate in provided marine training to enhance knowledge and skills related to ferry operations and safety protocols.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety regulations and procedures to ensure the well-being of passengers, crew, and cargo.
- Customer Service: Assist passengers as needed, maintaining a courteous and helpful demeanour at all times.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with fellow crew members and supervisors to achieve operational excellence.
- Advancement Opportunities: Demonstrate potential for advancement through dedication, reliability, and proficiency in assigned duties.

**Requirements**:

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with passengers and fellow crew members.
- Physical stamina and agility to perform duties such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to undergo required marine training and certification.
- Flexibility to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays, as per operational needs.
- Prior experience in the maritime or transportation industry is an asset but not mandatory.
- Commitment to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment.
- Valid driver's license preferred.

Remuneration:
Salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Amherstburg Ferry Company offers competitive compensation packages and opportunities for career growth and development.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 48 per week
