Toddler Early Childhood Educator

We are currently looking for a toddler room educator for our childcare centre. This individual will need to be able to work with children aged 12m - 3 years old and be flexible in scheduled shifts between 7am - 5:45pm.
Qualified applicants must have Alberta Child Care Certification (Level 1, 2 or 3), First Aid and recent security clearance check. Experience in childcare an asset, as well as being familiar with childcare licensing regulations and Alberta's Flight Framework.
Employee will also receive a wage top-up from the Government and is dependent on your current certification from the Government of Alberta.
This position is to cover a staff medical leave. We are unsure of their return date.
- **Duties**:_
- Plan, supervise and implement the program for the children/room assignment in accordance with BMCDC philosophy, policies, and procedures.
- To stay current with research and emerging best practices in health and safety as recommended by licensing and health authorities.
- Participate in recommending training programs, conferences, courses and other areas of professional growth.
- Be responsible for the orderly arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the rooms and play stations.
- Attend all staff meetings
- Supervise the environment for safety and health of the children
- Treat children with dignity and respect.
- Gear the program to meet the needs of the individual children with concerns for their interests and aptitudes.
- Facilitate growth in all areas of development - social, physical, intellectual, creative, and emotional.
- Assume staff housekeeping responsibilities
- Plan and implement methods for effective utilizing the services of the classroom team members
- Plan and implement methods of establishing a positive liaison with parents of the children in the center
- Incorporate families lives, diverse backgrounds and culture into the environment and planning.
- Participate in parent meetings with Director when necessary
- Prepare and update child’s memory books ,all on-going forms for evaluation and progress reports of each child’s development
- Maintaining a professional attitude and respect for BMCDC at all times
- Assist in celebrations and events held by BMCDC
- Any other duty deemed appropriate by Director and/or Owner

- Thorough understanding of children’s growth and development
- Thorough understanding of appropriate programming
- Commitment, flexibility and good problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate and maintain positive relationships with children, staff, parents and the community
- Knowledge of community resources
- Ability to represent the program within the community
- Knowledge of Nutrition, health and first aid
- Planning and evaluation skills
- Ability to work as a team member
- **Experience and Education:Additional Requirements**:_Wage will be based on experience in the field, current level and includes wage top up from the government
- Has an Early Childhood Assistant, Worker or Supervisor Certificate (Worker & Supervisor preferred)
- Some experience in childcare
- Valid First Aid Certification
- Criminal Records Check dated within the last 6 months and every 3 years after

Pay: From $17.42 per hour
Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
