Position Summary
Operating a commercial truck (day-cab) in Toronto and the GTA, short haul, with the operation of a truck mounted picker/log loader with grapple attachment to transport and unload poles to and from specified destinations by performing the duties below:
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload poles by using a log loader/boom with grapple attachment and including other trucks. Place poles into yard bunks, and onto other truck/trailer combinations. Delivers to customer yards and job site locations, staking loads may be required. Unloading/Loading of pole rail cars and designated rail yards.
- Deliver to customer yards and job site locations. Primarily in Toronto and GTA.
- Maintain records, documents, permits and valid licenses for assigned truck/equipment. Comply with ELD regulations.
- Assist in maintenance, service of the trucks, yard and support equipment as required.
- Drive truck to destination including during adverse weather conditions and emergency storm response.
- Responsible for quantities and correct sizes and types to match shipping and receiving tickets to ensure accurate inventory.
- Ensure load tickets are signed, dated, and submitted on time upon completion.
- Maintain truck log according to provincial, State and Federal regulations.
- Maintain phone contact with Dispatch/Supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
- Perform daily pre
- and post-trip DOT inspections on truck and trailer, check oil, coolant, tires, connections and pins, etc.
- Perform emergency roadside repair such as changing lights, small mechanical problems.
- Installation of tire chains if required.
- Properly secures cargo per DOT regulations.
- Able to climb on the trailer/load to install load support/tension chain.
- Responsible for safety, DOT, provincial and OSHA awareness
- Participate and contribute to company safety programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
- Trucking: 3 years (preferred).
- Manual (Standard) transmission MUST have.
- Crane/boom/loader license or a combination of experience
- Ability to navigate Toronto and the GTA on a daily basis
- License/Certification
- CDL and/or AZ Driver's License (required).
