Over the Winter term, you will support our Research Team and the Project Management Specialist in several inter-related projects and activities for 10-15 hours/week. (Note: there is potential for full-time summer employment, pending funding.) You will be a key resource for the execution of desktop research and interviews, as well as dissemination of ideas to diverse audiences.
- Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will support Innovation North’s research projects and activities by:

- Researching, analyzing and synthesizing information from an array of sources such as academic journals, business reports, news articles, and data sets
- Observing and transcribing interviews with individual stakeholders to get a deeper understanding of the research problem and potential actions
- Drafting and formatting project deliverables such as literature reviews, environmental scans, gap analyses, briefing notes, final reports, and presentations
- Participating in internal research team meetings by presenting key research findings and potential recommendations for project clients
- Ensuring research data (e.g. research documents, video recordings) is stored safe and securely in compliance with Research Ethics requirements
- Collaborating with other research assistants and researchers to ensure tasks are completed on time
- Providing administrative support such as booking meetings and interviews as needed

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Must be a full time student at Western (enrolled in minimum 3.5 courses), and expect to retain full-time student status for the duration of this appointment

**Experience**:

- Previous work experience in a similar role or within the department

- Written and verbal communication skills to express ideas clearly, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
- Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
- Reliable and dependable with the ability to consistently work assigned schedule
- Ability to follow processes and practices with high attention to detail
- Demonstrates integrity and works in accordance with Western¿s policies and procedures
- Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized work environment
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn and use new software programs as required
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
- Ability to prioritize and organize a fluctuating work load
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements as applicable
