You will be responsible for renewals of all GB Small Business Alpha cases and Signature cases up to 50 lives from the first renewal onwards working with Account Executives (AE), Small Business (SB) Director and Renewal Underwriters and other staff in the RGO. Working closely with Account Executives, the Central Quote Team (CQT), and the New Business Underwriting team, you will be responsible for assisting with new business by following up on quotes that have an annual premium value less than $10K. During the lean workload months, you can be expected to assist the AEs in growing Manulife’s distribution footprint by training and supporting new Manulife advisors. **Functional Area Summary**: Persistency is a key to Small Business profitability. This role is designed to keep a strong focus on persistency so that there are no trade-offs between persistency and new business efforts. As well, by partnering closely with the AE this results in increased persistency, speedy quote follow-up and increased outreach to new advisors. **Key Accountabilities**: **_Renewals _** - Prioritize and monitor renewal workload by assigned case(s) and by advisor - Access various internal systems for previous renewals and claims history where required - Initiate and complete renewal package to send to advisors - Coordinate with renewal Underwriter to handle renewal appeals and advisor marketing appeals - Provide "selling" stories to advisors for specific renewals - Follow up with advisors on renewals - Handle cost negotiations with advisor and clients on renewals - Document reasons for not being able to renew **_Quote follow-up _** - Follow up on quotes for assigned advisors or specific cases - Prepare alternative design options for cases for specifically assigned advisors and communicate rationale **_Advisor training and education _** - Conduct webex training sessions for identified groups of advisors or new Manulife advisors **Job Requirements**: - Deep understanding of Group Benefits products - Excellent knowledge of underwriting as well as the quote and renewal process - Experience with New Business underwriting and pricing - Previous work with "alternate" designs - Good knowledge of cost control - Familiarity with competitors’ products and business practices - Reasonable knowledge on advisor requirements - Excellent English verbal and written communication skills - Translate complex information into easily understood messages in a persuasive manner - Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to influence - Ability to “cold” call prospects - Provide mentoring and training over the phone or in-person - Excellent organizational and priority setting skills - Ability to work independently or as a member of a small team - Perform diverse tasks in a timely manner - Capability to work with data - Good reporting skills **About John Hancock and Manulife** **Manulife is an Equal Opportunity Employer
