Nestled on the eastern shores of spectacular Vancouver Island the Town of Ladysmith has a population of approximately 9,000 people, provides an inviting small town atmosphere and yet, is only a short commute to all the amenities of a major urban centre.
**Position Overview**:
**Qualifications**:
- Diploma or degree in Planning, or related field and experience in a local government setting, or an equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of planning terminology, principles, practices, and techniques.
- Knowledge and understanding of BC Planning legislation.
- Proficient in MS Office programs. Knowledge of GIS would be an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven record of attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with the public and to work as part of a team.
- Possession of a valid B.C. driver’s licence (Class 5)
- A team player. Highly collaborative and collegial;
- An open-minded convener of ideas;
- Stamina, energy, and willingness to commit to quality pro-active results;
**Additional Information**:
- Employees currently receive Wellness Initiatives, including use of facilities at Frank Jameson Community Center
- Hours of work: 35 hours per week
- Status: Temporary Full-Time until December 31, 2025 with the possibility of extension.
- Wage rate: Band 10 - $36.03
- Benefits: As per the Collective Agreement
