Apprentice Carpenter

Based in Nanaimo, B.C., Makon Projects is a locally owned full-service general contracting company providing superior solutions for commercial, institutional, industrial, and multi-residential construction projects on Vancouver Island. Makon Projects is looking to hire a Apprentice Carpenter to join our growing team to assist us with some of our exciting projects located on Vancouver Island.

Makon Projects Ltd. is seeking a Apprentice Carpenter who lives locally in the Comox area to work on a project located in Comox, BC. As an Apprentice Carpenter, you will have the ability to construct, erect, install, maintain and repair structures and components of structures made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. You are expected to be detail oriented and be knowledgeable on different carpentry materials. You must have the ability to work with a team, as well as independently. The Apprentice Carpenter must be able to work under pressure, and meet required deadlines.

**Responsibilities & Duties**:

- Assist a journeyman carpenter with construction and remodeling projects
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
- Prepare layouts conforming to building codes, using measuring tools
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
- Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
- Use hand and power tools daily
- Learn and practice essential carpentry skills on the job
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Set up and maintain tools for your supervising carpenter
- Stand-in First Aid Attendant

**Education & Experience**:

- High school diploma or GED certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- Strong math skills
- Familiarity with common power and hand tools
- Experience in construction is an asset

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship

Pay: $24.00-$30.00 per hour
