Amity Environmental provides our clients with quality service and technical knowledge in hazardous waste management and remediation, including asbestos, mold, lead-based paint, industrial hygiene and indoor air quality, property cleanup, and emergency/disaster response.

**Hazardous Materials Technician - Training Program**

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Prepare the job site for the removal process for the risk involved (low, moderate, high risk), includes; moving contents, poly contents, poly walls, floors ceilings, doorways, windows etc
- Prepare Personal Protective Equipment on site; ensure it's cleaned and ready to use
- Setup containment and decontamination chambers, and clean areas
- Construction of hoarding walls and shoring
- Remove and prepare Hazardous Materials for appropriate disposal method, and clean up.
- Clean all equipment before it comes back to the shop, and before it enters the vehicle
- Ensure all paper work, pictures and inventory is completed
- Stay up to date and comply with Worksafe regulations, policies and officers
- Travel will be required for the purposes of serving clients and some training
- Physical activity is required, lifting, loading, 30+ pounds
- Ensure compliance with all required safety protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

- Experience in any aspects of construction, demolition, or restoration would be considered an asset, but is not required,
- Able to perform manual labor with no restrictions, which may include but will not be limited to lifting, carrying, climbing, crawling, repetitive motion,
- Able to work in non-climate-controlled environments, occasionally in moderate heat,
- Must have own CSA approved steel-toed boots. All job specific equipment and safety gear is provided, including hard hat, safety glasses, respirator, etc.,
- Applicants must have strong comprehension of the English language,
- Organized, Dedicated and Disciplined, and Good work ethic,
- AMRT, FSRT, OCT, or WRT, certifications are an asset, but not required. Employer will pay for appropriate training courses and certifications as required,
- Completion of WHIMIS and First Aid as an asset.

Must be able to TRAVEL TO JOB SITES to perform work, either by vehicle or public transit. Assignments may require mínimal overtime, weekend work, and travel / work at remote locations. Work hours are generally 8:00am-4:30pm.

Compensation is based on work experience, education, and certifications. As a general rule, $18-21/hr during 3 month in-house training period (if required), $20-22/hr after training, $22-25/hr after employer paid certifications completed.

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour

Additional pay:

- Overtime pay
