Western Educational Adventures (WEA) is hiring Outdoor Education camp counselors and team leaders to lead our Adventure X, Classic, and Overnight Camp programs. This is your chance to get outside, work with kids, and help them develop life skills through exciting outdoor adventures including canoeing, survival skills, archery, hiking, nature exploration, wilderness navigation, and much more

WEA runs high-quality outdoor adventure programs for children on Vancouver Island, primarily in Greater Victoria. Our mission is to build life skills and foster a love for nature through unforgettable experiences.
Position Overview
The Outdoor Education Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of assigned programs and mentoring junior staff. Supervisors must bring significant outdoor education experience, be confident making key decisions, and provide hands-on leadership in the field. This role involves Classic, Adventure X, and Overnight/Journey Camp programs.
Program Dates
You may be scheduled for one or more of the following:
- Spring Break Camps - Last two weeks of March
- Summer Camps - June through early September
- Year-Round On-Call - Pro-D Days, school groups, day and multi-day events

Wild Paws Day Camps
- Locations:
- Thetis Lake Park (Main Beach)
- Beaver Lake / Camp Kingswood
- Typical Shift: 08:00-17:00 (Mon-Fri)
Some staff may end by 16:00 depending on the program week.
Overnight & Journey Camps
- End: Fridays at ~19:00
- Some exceptions apply; communicate directly with Landon for updates.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise outdoor camp programming
- Mentor and evaluate staff performance
- Plan weekly activities and schedules
- Maintain clear communication with parents
- Ensure safety, manage incidents, and keep detailed logs
- Drive WEA vehicles as needed
Supervisor Expectations
In addition to the duties of a Senior Outdoor Education Instructor:
- Confidently manage staff and program logistics with mínimal oversight
- Display strong leadership and communication skills
- Take initiative and make critical decisions in the field
**Qualifications**:
Minimum Requirements:
- 40hr Wilderness First Aid
- Minimum 3 years of outdoor education experience
- Clear Criminal Record Check (with vulnerable sector)
- Food Safe Level 1
Assets (preferred):
- 80hr Wilderness First Aid
- National Lifeguard Certification
- Class 2 or Class 4 Unrestricted Driver’s License
- 1+ year in a supervisory outdoor role
- Canoe or Kayak Instructor Certifications
