**What you will be doing**
- Monitor basement and offal tank levels.
- Unload trailers and dispose (dump) distressed material. Complete proper paperwork.
- Starts up equipment at beginning of day or week (following departmental SOPs) and communicates status of process and equipment to relief operators during shift overlap. This includes the feather screens, pumps, blood pump and hydrolyzer, ensuring guards are in place.
- Performs assigned tasks in the designated department to ensure that the equipment is maintained and operates at optimal performance. This includes: filling the salt tanks and polymer hopper as needed, monitoring and adjusting the sanitizer pumps to maintain appropriate concentration, titrate and test chemical strength and record, and ensuring that feather storage in the triple bin and the hydrolyzer process are maximized to reduce product diversion.
- Monitor and adjusts equipment when necessary; dismantles, cleans, and reassembles equipment as needed for processing. Responds to alarms, clear metal detector and reset, run metal detector standard blanks and record. Clean sensors, grease augers and equipment as per PM schedules and makes small maintenance repairs as needed.
- Accurately records the monitoring tasks in the related department records (e.g. information on problems and blood pump flow, cleaning log sheet, etc )
- Works closely with Department and Maintenance Supervisor, providing feedback as to how equipment is performing.
- Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition, according to GMPs. Including the cleaning of the floor and area, and the inside of the hydrolyzer as per the prescribed schedule.
- Completes department-specific tasks as applicable (e.g. shoveling feathers into the system, load and monitor feathers or offal being diverted to trailers, etc.)
**What you will bring**
- Machine operating experience, and/or must possess mechanical aptitude.
- Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.
- Working knowledge of knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations.
- Ability to work / excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential.
- Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities.
- Well organized team player with good interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills.
- High School Diploma required.
