The Catholic Children's Aid Society of Toronto has an exciting opportunity for a
Francophone Child Protection Worker with the After Hours Program
on a
temporary
,
part-time basis
for
twelve (12) months
The After Hours staff will work a minimum of 15 hours per week, based on rotational shift work.
The After Hours worker will provide bilingual (both in English and French) mandated child protection services to
Francophone families
outside of the Society’s regular business hours including, evenings, weekends and holidays.
**Duties Include**:
Assumes responsibility for the provision of services and responds to all inquiries, requests and/or complaints from Francophone families outside of regular office hours; including evenings, weekends and holidays;
Complete initial information gathering and assessment of referrals regarding children alleged to be in the need of protection which includes obtaining full information defined by Provincial child protection standards, guidelines and CCAS procedures;
Complete initial record searches and compile information regarding the child and family that are the focus of the allegation, from a number of sources including CCAS and other CAS case files and provincial database sources;
Commence the assessment for immediate safety threats for the child, screen for the presence of domestic violence, human trafficking and gathering of referral information, and advise referral source of their ongoing duty to report;
Conduct assessments of protective factors and the capacity of the family to provide protection for the child; assess the validity of the referred information;
Determine eligibility for service in accordance with the Ontario Child Welfare Eligibility Spectrum, in consultation with the After Hours Supervisor on call;
Conduct child abuse investigations with Toronto Police, Child Youth Advocacy Centre (CYAC) as per protocol when necessary;
Provide a broad spectrum of child protection services and support to various departments at CCAS;
Document information in the Child Protection Information Network (CPIN);
Liaise with community resources and partners where appropriate;
Participate in monthly team meetings either virtually or in person;
Participate in ongoing training and development;
Attend case conferences if requested;
Attend court if necessary;
Attend individual and/or group clinical supervision either in person or virtually;
Work in a safe manner in accordance with the Society's Health and Safety Policies and procedures and all relevant legislation.
Qualifications Required
:
**B.S.W./M.S.W. from a university of recognized standing (NOTE**: applicants without a B.S.W. degree, but who have a minimum qualification of a B.A. plus three (3) years directly related Child Welfare experience
may
be considered);
Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication skills in both English and French;
Clinical knowledge of social work theories, principles and practices; child development; family systems; domestic violence; sexual/emotional abuse; child neglect and high risk assessment;
Demonstrated knowledge of CYFSA, Child Protection Standards, Risk Assessment Model for Child Protection in Ontario, Ontario Child Welfare Eligibility Spectrum, child abuse protocols and other relevant community protocols dealing with neglect and abuse;
Knowledge and understanding of Child Welfare Transformation and Differential Response;
Excellent crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills;
Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations with good assessment skills;
Excellent verbal, written, listening, communication and interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with individuals and groups from a variety of diverse communities and to resolve conflict in an effective manner;
Demonstrated problem solving, planning and priority setting skills;
Strong time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure;
Proven ability to work as an integral member of a team;
Familiarity with community resources;
Excellent collaboration skills to liaise effectively with community resources and partners;
Proven ability to work effectively with an extremely diverse community;
Personal integrity, responsibility and a demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, integrating the values in the CCAS Mission Statement, the principles of equity, justice, non-discrimination and accessibility into practice, service delivery and team relationships;
Demonstrate a clear understanding, and ability to incorporate Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression (ARAO)
