**Job Purpose/Objective**:
The Machine Operator works in production, working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. They are responsible for the set-up, operation, and maintenance of various manufacturing machinery. They maintain equipment to ensure it operates safely and effectively. Their duties include preparing machinery for daily use, inspecting machinery for safety issues, and training other employees. The Machine Operator is responsible for troubleshooting any equipment errors and reporting them promptly. This person has a direct impact on the efficiency of our operation and is a key contributor.
**Job Duties and Responsibilities**:
A Machine Operator’s duties and responsibilities dictate the safety and efficiency of everyone around them. Machine Operators must remain focused and diligent in performing their tasks correctly and with care to keep production running smoothly. Their duties and responsibilities include:
- Setting up manufacturing equipment for daily use
- Maintaining equipment and machinery so they can operate safely
- Operate various manufacturing machinery, while maintaining good quality and safety standards.
- Training and overseeing other employees on specialty machines
- Maintaining the understanding of operating procedures for their machines
- Proposing improvements to the process or machines as needed
- Reporting safety hazards within the work environment
- Take pride in your workspace ensuring good housekeeping throughout your shift.
- Follow all relevant company policies, procedures, GMPs, SQF related requirements to ensure deviations and conditions that may compromise food safety are reported promptly.
- Assist in other areas of production.
- Occasionally hand stack cases when required, including lifting up to 40 pounds.
**What we are looking for**:
- 1-3 years experience as a Machine Operator in a food manufacturing environment.
- Have a technical/mechanical aptitude and like to be hands-on.
- Great communication for working with others on the job.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot potential issues.
- Ability to lead a team and train other employees, as needed.
- Resourcefulness in learning new manuals and processes.
- Outstanding attention to detail with the ability to understand mechanics and technical tasks.
- Ability to identify issues or problems in operations or maintenance.
- Able to lift up to 40lbs.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
**Other skills and experiences that are considered an asset**:
- Have a high school diploma, GED or higher academic certification
- Work experience with fillers, cappers, and labellers.
- Forklift certification and experience
- Joint Health and Safety Certification
- First Aid and CPR Certification
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
