**Background**

In its continuous effort to deliver innovative, optimal, and cutting-edge solutions, National Bank Investment (BNI) is looking to increase its portfolio construction expertise. More specifically, the office of the Chief Investment Officer (CIO Office) is growing to meet the increasing need for quantitative analysis of various Wealth Management investment solutions. To do this, the quantitative analyst will help develop portfolio diagnostic and market simulation tools to directly serve NBI asset management mandates representing more than $60 billion in assets under management.

**Your role**
- Help research, develop, and maintain portfolio diagnostic tools for both risk budgeting and ex-post results
- Help research, develop, and maintain market simulation tools
- Participate in the production of documents detailing the various methodologies and processes implemented and the governance of these tools to ensure their sustainability
- Identify opportunities for improving and automating existing processes
- Participate in ad hoc research projects requiring financial engineering expertise
- Create, organize, and use structured databases
- Use macro-financial data software (Bloomberg, Refinitiv)

**Competencies required**:

- Graduate degree in a related field (financial engineering, finance, economics, other quantitative discipline)
- Good knowledge of various asset classes and their interactions: stocks, bonds, currencies, commodities, and alternative classes
- Strong programming skills (Python)
- Mastery of Microsoft Office suite, advanced knowledge of Excel
- Excellent collaborator, comfortable multi-tasking and working in a matrix-based organization
- Strong spoken and written English and French communication skills since you will need to speak with partners in both languages accross Canada

**Preferred competencies**:

- 2 years of relevant experience in macro-financial modeling applied to portfolio management
- CFA program in progress
