Experience working with manual lathes and CNC machines is required, and AutoCAD experience is considered a strong asset to support design, planning, and project coordination.
**Responsibilities**:
- Leverage industry connections to generate new business opportunities and help grow the company.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the machine and welding shop.
- Supervise, mentor, and schedule shop employees to meet production goals. Ensure all work meets quality standards and customer specifications.
- Prepare accurate quotes for machining, welding, and fabrication jobs. Monitor workflow and coordinate resources to meet deadlines.
- Oversee maintenance of equipment, including manual lathes and CNC machines.
- Enforce health and safety policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Work closely with management on budgets, planning, and project timelines.
- Maintain inventory of materials and supplies.
- Handle invoicing and ensure accurate billing for completed jobs.
- Manage material procurement to ensure the shop has the necessary supplies and resources.
- Foster a positive and productive work culture.
**Qualifications**:
- 5+ years of experience in machining, welding, or fabrication, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong experience operating and overseeing manual lathes and CNC machines.
- Solid understanding of machining and welding processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of shop safety standards and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Experience in job quoting and cost estimation.
- Industry network or connections that can be utilized to bring in work and grow the business.
- AutoCAD experience is an asset.
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on efficiency and quality.
- Experience with scheduling and resource management is a plus.
