NONU $49.46/hr $59.96/hr**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- To Support the strategic goals and objectives of the corporate Infection Prevention and Control Program
- To provide Infection Control expertise within the Queensway Carleton Hospital
- To conduct necessary monitoring and analysis of data for the purpose of identifying, reporting and making recommendations related to Infection Control issues
- To assist the other members of the Infection Control team with the development and implementation of all functions and activities of the corporate Infection Prevention and Control Program
- Monitor admissions and microbiology data for recognition of infections, epidemiologically important organisms, sentinel events, environmental risks and/or communicable diseases for immediate review and investigation
- Review patients charts for supporting evidence related to infections, communicable disease and clusters/outbreaks of infections or unusual occurrences
- Maintain and analyze surveillance data records
- Investigate problems and provide timely, evidence-based recommendations and reports
- In consultation with the Infection Control Director, develop and implement surveillance systems, compile and interpret data and provide analysis of effect
- Collect and disseminate information on designated reportable diseases to the City of Ottawa Health Department
- Provide on-going consultation and expertise for OHSS issues/concerns and to individual hospital staff members regarding communicable diseases
- Complete additional project work or policy development as assigned
- Demonstrates QCH values: collaboration, accountability, innovation, and respect

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a health related field
- Knowledge of computers, microbiology, immunology, epidemiology and statistical analysis
- Experience in a key leadership role
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in an oral and written format with patients, colleagues and other health care disciplines
- Demonstrated teaching and mentoring skills

**PREFERRED**:

- Infection Control Certification (CIC)
- Hospital Infection Prevention and Control Experience
- Recognized course in Infection Prevention and Control completed
