**Job Description**:
The Ottawa Urban Planning practice is seeking an Urban Planner to join their team. The Urban Planner role will be involved in supporting other planners on policy and master planning assignments, assisting in obtaining development approvals, providing professional advice, and consulting with a range of stakeholders. The individual will report to the office planning leads and work with other professional staff within and outside the office.

**Most of the Things You’ll Work On**:

- Assisting with a range of policy and land use planning projects
- Conducting research, highest and best use reviews, and planning policy analysis
- Coordination and input on site plans, master plans and municipal and regional planning strategies
- Public consultation, including creation and delivery of presentations for public meetings, open houses and workshops
- Preparation of proposals and contracts for public and private sector clients.
- Supporting other planners and designers

**Qualifications**:
**You'll Need To Have**:

- University Degree in Urban and Regional Planning
- Full member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) and the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) or in the process of becoming of a full member is preferable
- 1-3 years of relevant planning experience in land development and land use planning
- Strong understanding of the planning and development processes in Ontario
- Quebec experience is considered an asset
- Analytical thinker and creative problem solver with high attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Experience in project management would be an asset
- Ability to work individually or in a team environment
- Ability to communicate, write, and present in French would be an asset
- Exceptional written communication skills
- Excellent oral communication skills and experience with public speaking
- User functionality in MS Office products
- Knowledge of GIS, CAD, Illustrator, SketchUp, or similar programs would be an asset

Additional Information

IBI’s Ottawa office provides Architectural, Civil, Transportation and Water Management Engineering services for the planning, design and construction of buildings and infrastructure. Our office is located at 333 Preston Street in the Preston Square complex in the heart of “Little Italy” with many pubs, restaurants and other small businesses. Preston Square occupies the entire block, and is adjacent to the 417 Highway at Rochester Street exit, a short distance from the Ottawa International Airport. There is convenient OC Transpo bus and O-Train service within walking distance. The Rideau Canal of skating fame is six blocks away. Downtown Ottawa, including Parliament Hill is a 10 minutes cab ride.
