**Description**

The Banquet Captain role receives guidance from the Operations Manager, Senior Operations Manager and/or the Director of Hospitality. The role of the Banquet Captain is to provide exemplary customer service while supervising the staff, operations, and guests of banquet events.

Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the enforcement of Shaw Centre standards during the setup, service and breakdown of events while ensuring staff are maintaining the proper grooming and hygiene standards.
- Responsible for the directing of banquet staff and assigning tasks to hourly staff as required.
- Responsible for the supervision and the assigning of breaks of hourly employees.
- Responsible for the completion of daily consumption reports and bar inventory sheets.
- Complete pre-event assignments and dietary information sheets for staff.
- Assist in conducting pre-shift and pre-function briefings.
- Provide courteous customer service by responding promptly and efficiently to inquiries, requests, and complaints.
- Liaison between clients and other internal departments.
- Maintains constant contact with the kitchen to ensure the proper outcome between food production and food service.
- Anticipate and communicate bar/buffet replenishment needs promptly, ensuring no shortages throughout the event and ensuring proper authorization is attained prior to replenishing.
- Responsible for promoting positive employee relations; engaging in effective labor relations practices.
- Will be required to train other employees, educating them on all aspects of their specific role.
- Assist with accurate equipment inventory counts on a scheduled basis.
- Must look after and ensure the maintenance, organization, and cleanliness of back of house areas.
- Implementing and monitoring ARAMARK's safety programs while reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager.
- Interpreting and ensuring compliance with ARAMARK policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as applicable government, regulatory and/or accrediting agency standards and codes
- All captains must be flexible in their schedule and realize the demands of the job require them to be present for any event that may occur including working nights, weekends and some holidays as required.

Essential functions
- Ability to frequently move about a large facility, which could span several hundred thousand feet, to perform work responsibilities
- Ability to constantly handle, lift, and operate equipment and inventory.
- Ability to constantly identify hazardous situations in the workplace.
- Ability to frequently handle objects weighing 35lbs or less
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

QUALIFICATIONS
- Exceptional knowledge and understanding of various banquet and bar techniques and standards.
- 1 or more years of experience as a Banquet Captain with experience in supervising staff and possesses the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be of legal drinking age.
- Smart Serve Certification is required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to life up to 35 pounds.
- French language skills are considered an asset.

**Salary**: From $21.00 per hour
