**General Purpose**:
Working under the general supervision of the Director of Corporate Services/CFO, this role performs a variety of asset management, inventory and spatial data related duties for all corporate assets. Assists in the long-term planning, management and work prioritization activities for all corporate assets. The role works collaboratively with all departments and stakeholders to develop and implement an Asset Management program. The role focuses on strategic asset management with consideration to budget constraints of each department.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assists in the development and continual update of Township’s Asset Management Program, in accordance with provincial regulations and monitors integration into existing long-term capital forecasts.
- Manages the development of attributes for a comprehensive asset inventory, including developing template structures and inventory building routines for each asset category,
- Develops and implements a corporate asset GIS system, including creating a database, for storm, roads, water, sanitary, fleet, facilities, land and other assets and ensures continuous availability of accurate datasets
- Works collaboratively with Manager of Finance / Deputy Treasurer to ensure the Asset Management Program satisfies the applicable requirements
- Provides oversight and responsibility for the planning, administration and implementation of field data collection programs related to municipally owned infrastructure.
- Monitors the study, evaluation, analysis and projection of the Township’s future requirements of municipal infrastructure in order to provide required levels of service to the public, including the development of infrastructure life-cycle analysis and capacity analysis.
- Assists with maintenance, upgrade, and disposal of infrastructure assets.
- Maintains the Township’s Work Order Management System, ensuring consistent processes are deployed across all departments for the inspection and maintenance of data logs for municipal assets.
- Provides recommendations for capital upgrades, operational improvements and preventative maintenance for water and wastewater infrastructure to ensure risk to public health and safety and the environment are minimized.
- Assists in the preparation of reports to Council on infrastructure and asset management related matters.
- Analyzes, edits and verifies GPS/AVL data and provides results to stakeholders
- Collects field data, responds to inquiries, and concerns from staff and customers on GIS and asset data
- Prepares custom maps for internal staff and customers.
- Operates complex and sensitive survey equipment and GPS to support field data collection
- Assists with digital records management.
- Participates on internal committees and working groups to provide guidance in areas related to Asset Management
- Willing to perform other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- 3-year diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent, specialization in GIS technology would be an asset
- Minimum three (3) years of progressive database or asset management experience, including the creation of forms, queries, tables and reports, with one year of professional experience using CityWide or related programs and ESRI ArcGIS or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
- Registered with Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) considered an asset
- Diploma or training in GIS Applications Specialist, Geospatial Technician, Planning Technician, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience using GIS software is considered an asset
- Proficient with ArcGIS 11 and understanding of geodatabase format
- Thorough knowledge of all pertinent legislation, policies and design standards and a working knowledge of municipal governance, including provincial and federal levels
- Thorough knowledge of asset management basics including: asset condition assessments, prioritization of needs, funding estimates, and municipal budget processes
- Experience in the preparation of engineering standards, policies, technical reports, reports to Council, responding to external agencies and community enquiries
- Familiar with Workplace Health and Safety policies, procedures and legislation
- Excellent knowledge and skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and the ability to learn and adapt to new systems
