**ROLE OVERVIEW**
The Digital Media Specialist works across the organization to plan and execute a strategic social media plan. They are responsible for leading the development, implementation and measurement of Ocean Wise digital campaigns to achieve conservation, communications, and fundraising goals.
Key functions include: social media planning, content creation, digital fundraising, direct to consumer digital engagement (i.e. newsletters), web content management and other duties as they arise.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
**Social Media**:
- Execute a tailored strategy for social media channels across platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
- Write, produce, and create social media copy and content, in collaboration with Communication Specialists, that creates awareness about Ocean Wise and its programs, tells the larger story around ocean conservation and climate change and inspires people to take action (donate, volunteer, learn, etc.).
- Manage day-to-day posting and scheduling on social media channel including securing all necessary approvals.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of social copy and content across platforms and provide recommendations for future strategy.
- Monitor important moments and digital trends to find opportunities for rapid response and innovation.
**Digital Marketing**:
- Develop and execute a tailored strategy for engaging supporters through digital marketing platforms (i.e. Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, SMS).
- Build out the digital infrastructure for digital campaigns including, but not limited to, expanding the supporter database, crafting an SMS program, building brand loyalty and more.
- Work with the Communications and Fundraising teams to execute an integrated digital plan that focuses on building relationships with Ocean Wise supporters to increase donations and digital fundraising revenue.
- Evaluate performance of different approaches, content and messaging across platforms and make recommendations for future strategy.
- Partner with other members of the communications, conservation and fundraising teams to share insights and find new ways to leverage our tools to reach supporters and increase fundraising revenue.
**Website Content**
- Work with the Director, Development team and Communications Specialists to ensure web content is up to date, impactful and on brand.
- Build out and coordinate approval processes for updating website content in an efficient manner.
- Evaluate web performance and make recommendations for improvements.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education and Experience**:
- Strong and demonstrated understanding of social media and digital marketing.
- 3 to 5 years of work experience in communications, social media, or digital marketing.
- A degree or diploma in communications, public relations, writing, journalism, science communications or a related field.
- At least one year of work experience managing teams of people.
- Experience in communications planning, execution and measurement.
- Experience working in corporate engagement and fundraising is a plus.
**Skills**
- Must be a strong writer and content creator.
- Familiarity with web content platforms (specifically WordPress)
- Interest in ocean literacy and marine conservation issues.
- Excellent people skills with a helpful and supportive attitude.
- Superior organizational ability and time management skills.
- Comfort and confidence working with leaders.
- Detail oriented and accurate in execution, ability to work well under pressure and with mínimal supervision.

**Working Conditions**:
