**Role Responsibilities**:
Lead the Future of Alberta’s Infrastructure - Make Your Mark on Major Transportation Projects

About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, Major Capital Projects, this role leads the delivery of major urban and rural transportation construction and rehabilitation programs in and around the City of Calgary. With a focus on large-scale, complex projects using standard Design Bid Build models and alternative delivery models such as Design-Build and Public-Private Partnerships, you’ll oversee all facets of project execution—from strategic planning and resource allocation to contract management and turnover to operations. As the department’s Project Sponsor, you will represent TEC’s interests with municipalities, engineering consultants, constructors, utilities, and internal partners to ensure projects are executed on time, on budget, and to specification.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Leading the design and construction of high-profile urban and rural transportation projects
- Managing diverse contract models and proactively resolving claims and disputes
- Overseeing a $500M annual capital budget with strong financial controls and reporting
- Collaborating across departments to ensure consistency in technical standards and delivery execution
- Supervising and developing staff while maintaining high service standards
- Engaging stakeholders to align project delivery with community and governmental priorities
- Guiding policy development and capital planning initiatives
- Administering engineering consultant contracts and contributing to performance evaluations
- Ensuring effective knowledge transfer and succession planning within the branch and wider department
- Providing expert advice and briefings to executive leadership and ministry representatives
