**EMPLOYEE GROUP**: Excluded
**SALARY**: $76,148.80 annually ($36.61 hourly)
**TERM**: Permanent
**START DATE**: As soon as possible
**SCHEDULE**: General hours are Sunday - Wednesday 7:30AM - 3:30PM. with 30 minutes unpaid break. Participation in the After-Hours On-Call rotation becomes a mandatory condition of this assignment. This includes evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage as scheduled. The standard requirement is participation in the on-call rotation three (3) to four (4) times per calendar year, or as otherwise assigned based on operational needs. Flexibility in work hours is required to support this responsibility. As per Employment Standards, managers are excluded from the sections of the Act dealing with overtime entitlement.
A clear British Columbia Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable adults and/or children is a condition of employment with RainCity Housing. Applicants must be willing and able to receive a clearance under the Criminal Record Review Act.
Program Summary
Sechelt Shelter provides emergency shelter and supports to 20 individuals, 19 and over, who are experiencing homelessness on the Sunshine Coast. The shelter is staffed 24/7 with 2 community support workers. The shelter also provides drop-in services to folks who may be without a home and need supports, these supports include the Sunshine Coast’s only Overdose Prevention Site (OPS). We view the shelter as an opportunity to promote dignity, social justice, and increased citizenship for members of our community who come from a wide variety of backgrounds but who currently do not have a place to call home.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A B.A. in a relevant health discipline or equivalent experience
- Training in supervisory and/or managerial functions.
- Four (4) years of recent related experience with people living with mental health issues, substance use and/or are at risk of being homeless.
- One (1) year in a supervisory, preferably managerial, capacity, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Class 5 driver’s license.
Required Skills, Abilities, & Knowledge
- Plan and direct a supportive housing program.
- Present proposals and recommendations clearly, logically, and persuasively.
- Consult effectively with the senior leadership team to develop solutions to complex organizational and people management issues.
- Exercise sound, expert independent judgment within policy guidelines.
- Exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive, complex, and confidential personnel issues and employee situations.
- Influence work group processes to build commitment to program principles and goals and ensure a cohesive and collaborative staff team.
- Translate theory and principles into workplace systems that ensure daily practice is aligned with theory/principles.
- Knowledge of the strengths-based recovery model for people with mental illness.
- Knowledge of the bio-psychosocial addictions model, including the transtheoretical model of change, harm reduction, motivational interviewing and relapse prevention and intervention strategies.
