We are seeking an experienced **Lab Associate** who will work with the operations team to support the daily operations of biochemistry, chemistry, and imaging labs. This is a dynamic role that will evolve over time.

**Responsibilities**:

- Running protein and gel preparations.
- Reagents preparations (buffers and chemical stocks).
- Plasmid miniprep and plasmid sequencing.
- Managing chemical and consumable inventory including maintaining consumables and chemical inventories, ordering consumables, and updating the SDS and other safety information.
- Maintaining an organized, clean and safety sensitive lab.
- Identifying safety concerns, best practices and keeping PPE stocked and laundered.
- Troubleshooting and operating equipment.
- Assisting with organizing equipment maintenance schedules.
- Assisting in preparing and receiving shipments
- Running autoclave cycles, glassware, and instrument cleaning.
- Providing laboratory support to senior lab staff as required.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Bachelor of Science in a related discipline with 2 or more years of relevant experience in a level 1 and level 2 research lab facility.
- Knowledge of wet laboratory operations including safety regulations.
- Basic wet lab bench skills including experience with running gels, reagent preparations, plasmid preparation and sequencing.
- Demonstrated ability in identifying and responding to a variety of workplace issues related to safety, inventory, operations etc.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of personal and professional integrity and ethics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with scientific and non-scientific personnel.
- Excellent attention to detail with critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Must be an independent, self starter who is also an excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Must be adaptable and flexible to work collaboratively and effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
