**About Potash**
- The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.
Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for mid-2027. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. **Work Location**
- Downtown, Saskatoon office. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

**Purpose**
- Reporting to the Manager Environment, the Principal Water Studies provides technical and coordination of expertise in the design, planning, operations and studies phases of integrated water management.
**About the Role**
- In this role, you will:
- Conducts and embeds water studies, research and risk assessments to optimise resource value, inform projects and achieve sustainable water management.
- Scopes, manages and coordinates hydrological, hydrogeological and water management programs and studies, including hydrological characterisation and predictive models.
- Coordinates, develops and leads water management activities and drilling and testing programs,
- Develops the strategic approach and plans for water management at an Asset level, tracks water targets and performance measures and corrects non-compliances and factors impacting controls effectiveness.
- Supports the communication and awareness lifting of water related risks and controls, opportunities and challenges.
- Develops operational water (tactical) plans and water balances, tracks operational and monitoring performance and improves water related risk processes and controls to improve compliance, effectiveness and sustainability of mine operations
- Incorporates Water Stewardship into business plans and strategies, and supports the corporate reporting, targets and external communication.
- Supports and coordinates geotechnical and geochemical investigations.
- Plans, tracks the delivery of and manages projects to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.
- Sources information, plans and conducts analyses to support evidence and risk based decision making, including trade off and option analysis.
- Delivers water related business plans that inform the strategic and tactical plans
- Supports the scoping of water projects, including the statement of requirements, technical scopes and delivery schedules. Maintains oversight of water project delivery.
**About You**
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or other relevant discipline
- 8+ years’ experience in managing socio-environmental programs
- Experience managing socio-environmental processes in a mining environment
- Knowledge in environmental impacts and/or strategic resources (water, energy)
