Position Overview

The Community Engagement / Communications Supervisor will oversee and steer the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that promote the programs and services of the Division and allow the community to become engaged with Lambton’s cultural services. Working in consultation with the Division’s management team, staff and external partners, the incumbent will be responsible for the coordination of community engagement efforts (which may include volunteer and donor programs), advertising, social media marketing, media relations, graphic design and brand management, and general communications to enhance community participation with the County’s libraries, museums, gallery and archives. This position will also serve as a resource to Division staff regarding internal employee communications.
**Responsibilities**:
Administrative
- Develops, manages and evaluates the communications and community engagement strategies for the Division
- Assist in monitoring budget and tracking expenses, developing the annual departmental budget, authorizing program purchases, overtime, resource allocation, mileage and other expenditures within the approved budgetary guidelines, and assign purchase to appropriate accounts.
- Ensures the dissemination of prompt, accurate public information
- Identifies opportunities within the Division for cross-promotion of programs and services, and actively collaborates with the management team and / or supervisory team to pursue opportunities to link programs and services across the Division
- Anticipates potentially contentious issues and advises the Division management team on best methods to proactively and positively address them
- Oversees the implementation of ongoing internal communications to ensure Division staff are well informed of public relations and community engagement initiatives
- Supports the Division management team with the development and maintenance of the Division's communications policies and procedures
- Ensures overall consistency and quality of communications products produced
- Maintains corporate identity standards as per the County's guidelines
- Develops and / or oversees the development of communication plans, tactics and key messages which align to community engagement and public relations objectives, as well as strategic planning priorities
- Support staff with the research, writing and editing of innovative and impactful communications materials
- Works with the Division management team to provide direction to staff on cross-promotional opportunities with external partner agencies (tourism organizations, regional and provincial marketing initiatives, professional associations, etc.) to enhance the promotion of programs and services offered by the Division.
Community Engagement & Communications
- Develops campaign strategies and associated budgets to support any required communication platforms for implementation, such as digital, social, television, print, out of home (billboards, bus shelters, benches, etc.), radio, experiential and direct marketing
- Oversees the development and approval of communications tools such as newsletters, presentations, annual reports, web postings, media releases, briefing notes, speeches, audio-visual presentations, and campaigns
- Cultivates and maintains positive relationships with local media
- Coordinates with various marketing and communications support staff across the Division to support campaign implementation and evaluation
- Collaborates with departmental staff to support appropriate training for promotional campaign orientation and successful implementation
- Develops, implements and reports on mechanisms for internal and external evaluation of engagement initiatives
- Oversees the development and delivery of public surveys to receive community feedback on Division programs and services
Digital Marketing & Engagement
