Responsibilities:

- Provide assistance with activities of daily living for elderly individuals in various settings such as assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or private residences.
- Assist with personal care tasks including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Administer medication reminders and assist with medication management.
- Monitor and report changes in clients' health or behavior to the appropriate medical professionals.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
- Prepare meals and assist with feeding if needed.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Follow care plans and instructions provided by healthcare professionals.

**Experience**:

- Previous experience in caregiving or related fields such as assisted living, senior care, dementia care, nursing home, or home care is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of basic caregiving techniques and principles.
- Familiarity with common medical conditions affecting the elderly population.
- Ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, their families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to adapt to different environments and work well in a team.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract

**Salary**: $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week

Flexible Language Requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- 12 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay

Ability to Relocate:

- New Glasgow, NS: Relocate before starting work (required)
