Ottawa, Canada Billingswood Manor Seniors' Residence Full time

_**Responsibilities**:_
- Must be self directed and creative. Must be able to interact positively with residents and coworkers
- Carries out planned programs in a creative and imaginative manner, maintaining the optimum interest of the resident
- Have a genuine interest and ability to work with residents who have a physical, behavioral, memory and/or communicative challenges
- Must be able to work one to one with residents and coordinate small and larger group programs
- Executes monthly activities based on the activity schedule
- Maintain statistics of resident’s participation in activities
- Assists residents at meals, including feeding.
- Assists to plan, organize and write a monthly newsletter containing a variety of articles and information for distribution to the residents and their families
- Performs other related duties as assigned including:

- Tuck shop supplies and sales, arts and crafts, music events and entertainer bookings, bar beverages and snacks, regular and special events, exercises classes, community events, educational function and residents drives._
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Recreational-Leisure, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, Gerontology, Developmental Service Worker
- DSW or other related field of study
- Experience working in a geriatric setting
- Knowledge of crafts, handiwork and hands-on experience will be beneficial
- Multi-language, strong communication skills as well as computer skills are considered an asset
- An acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check verified within the past six months
- 2-step TB test within the past six months
- Fun to be with, organized, sensitive, enthusiastic, patient, tactful and mature.
