Qualifications:
Essential Skills/expertise
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline such as Business Administration, Public Administration. A master’s degree is considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Extensive experience conducting and preparing legislative, regulatory, jurisdictional and policy research and analysis on very complex political processes and interactions.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills with experience in research and analysis.
- Demonstrated experience to leverage opportunities for innovation, find creative solutions to issues, and successfully manage change.
- Strong political acumen with the ability to manage confidential and politically sensitive material and situations with diplomacy and tact including experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on complex issues.
- Proven capability to identify and deliver key strategic insights, counsel and policy to decision makers.
- Experience supervising teams, leading, managing, and coordinating projects.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, foster innovation and collaboration and build partnerships between various internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication skills, including drafting documents for decision makers.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to develop and deliver presentations and communicate complex information to various audiences.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage competing demands within tight timelines.
- Experience using data analysis tools and modeling to support business case development, impact analysis and cost estimations

**Duties**:
The Director of Strategic Initiatives will establish framework and mechanisms for ongoing environmental scanning and analysis, prepare detailed reports, discussion papers and briefing notes on current and emerging issues. This position is responsible for actively seeking out and pursuing strategic partnership opportunities that alight with EM’s goals and objectives. This role will also contribute to longer term strategic planning for the organization and work collaboratively on a variety of projects with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. The Director of Strategic Initiatives will support the CEO and SLT in the development of accountability mechanisms that include evaluation, performance measures, and dashboard reporting.
