**The Opportunity**: The Purchasing Technician assists in the overall operation of and the procurement of goods and services for College Departments, including processing purchase orders, maintaining supplier information, maintaining purchase orders, and providing guidance to College departments regarding purchasing policy and Broader Public Sector Directives. The incumbent backfills for central stores operations and the Purchasing Agent and/or replaces in the position as required. With respect to the day-to-day operations of the Procurement Department, the incumbent functions as a member of the team and operates in an environment that fosters such.

**What you need to be successful**:

- 2-year diploma or equivalent, with job related training in Business, Accounting, Computers or Materials Management
- diploma/degree in Accounting preferred
- minimum three years’ related work experience in purchasing and procurement of goods and services
- experience recording various types of purchases into the general ledger in a budget environment greater than $100 million dollars
- experience in an inventory controlled stores/warehousing environment
- must have driving experience and possess an excellent driving record
- Excellent working knowledge of a computerized financial system and Microsoft Office suite
- PeopleSoft is considered an asset
- advanced customer service skills
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft office suite products, including Word and Excel
- ability to work independently and within a team setting

This is a full-time support staff position, 35 hours/week, Payband F - $28.28-$32.78 (starting rate $28.28).
