Environmental - Hazardous Materials Technician

**Your Responsibilities**
- Conducting building investigations for asbestos, designated substances, mould and other hazardous materials
- Providing engineering/technical support for projects involving the abatement of the aforementioned materials
- Collecting air and bulk samples during investigations and abatement of the aforementioned materials
- Analyzing phase contrast microscopy (PCM) air samples for asbestos using NIOSH 7400 method
- Interpreting laboratory analytical results
- Preparing written reports pertaining to site investigations and abatement
**Potential Career Advancement in Environmental Field**
- Completion of various field investigations (test pits, borehole drilling, soil, groundwater, indoor air sampling), monitoring and
- Completion of Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I and Phase II ESAs)
- Participation in soil and/or groundwater site remediation projects
**The Skills, Knowledge, and Ability We Seek**
- College Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety; Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental/Geological/Civil Technician or Technology Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in Natural Sciences
- Environmental/Geological/Civil Technician Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in Natural Sciences (Earth Science, Environmental Science, or Engineering)
- 1 to 2 years of related field experience for environmental works (Designated Substance Survey, remediation oversight, hazardous materials, mould investigations, indoor air quality sampling)
- Strong writing skills including the ability to write reports
- Experience working in a client services environment with developed client service skills
- Ability to work with multi-disciplinary groups as well as independently
- Highly motivated and able to work well within a team environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Must be available to work during occasional weekends and nights
- Opportunity to travel across Eastern Ontario / National Capital Regaion and participate in field programs (as needed)
- A valid driver's G license and access to a vehicle are required, as this role will include field visits to client sites
