Job description:
The FreshCo Department Manager is responsible for the efficient and fiscally responsible operation of their respective department. The Manager will lead, manage, coach, motivate and train staff to achieve the highest level of customer service, while adhering to all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, Policies, Health and Safety, and other programs and initiatives. The Manager will also manage budgets, labour costs, inventory control, product presentation and merchandising. The Department Manager will coach and develop their team to foster customer loyalty, fulfil customer needs and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Maximizes sales and profit objectives by implementing marketing and merchandising programs. Oversees and executes merchandising displays, maintains product levels by stocking shelves and monitoring product inventory.
2. Manages department staff by hiring, scheduling, providing work direction, reviewing performance and providing feedback and conducting disciplinary procedures.
3. Performs administrative duties payroll management, ordering product, and producing sales, purchase and manager’s reports.
4. Maintains inventory levels by counting stock, ordering and receiving product, and checking invoices.
5. Provides customer service by responding to their inquiries and resolving issues.
6. Maintains operating policies and procedures by reviewing, updating, and enforcing compliance with legislated requirements (e.g., Food Safety and Health & Safety), and by training staff.
7. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma plus two (2) years’ experience as a Grocery Manager or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Grocery products.
- Excellent Merchandiser.
- Excellent Planner.
- Process Driven.
- Hands-on Leader.
- Good understanding of Food Safety and Health and Safety legislation.
