The Legislative Assembly is seeking casual Gift Shop Clerks to support the successful operation of the Gift Shop located within the Legislative building. The Golden Boy Gift Shop promotes Manitoba-made products and enhances visitor experience at the Legislative Building by supporting local artisans and businesses through retail.

Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be politically non-partisan in both perception and fact.

Qualifications:
Essential:

- Experience in retail or customer service, ideally within a boutique, tourism, or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of retail and POS operations, including inventory management, sales reconciliation, and handling cash, credit, and refunds.
- Strong Interpersonal communications and conflict resolutions skills with the ability to serve a diverse range of customers and adapt to different situations.
- Detail-oriented ensuring accuracy in transactions, inventory, presentation and giftwrapping/packing of merchandise with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team in a high-profile environment.
- Ability to work in a political environment, exercise good judgement, maintain confidentiality and ability to work under pressure.

Desired:

- Knowledge of CounterPoint as a POS system
- Strong French language skills including the ability to communicate verbally.
- Knowledge of Manitoba attractions, festivals, special events and culture.

**Duties**:
Reporting to the Gift Shop Manager, the Gift Shop Clerk is a key point of contact for customers and is responsible for delivering an exceptional retail experience. This role involves overseeing the complete sales cycle — from demonstrating strong product knowledge and engaging with visitors, to processing transactions efficiently, gift wrap and daily balancing. The Gift Shop Clerk plays an important role in promoting local artisans and Manitoba-made products, ensuring a welcoming and well-maintained retail space, and supporting day-to-day shop operations including inventory and merchandising.
