K9 Handler- Marine Security Terminals

As a k9 Handler, you will play a vital role in achieving our exponential growth and driving forward our mission to make people feel safe. Your focus will be on establishing and nurturing partnerships by effectively managing all issues in your assigned account portfolio, while ensuring a high level of service.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provide K9 Patrol/Protection support in accordance with established procedures
- Provide Explosive or Narcotic Detection Support as directed by the K9 Operations Manager which may include searching provisions, vehicles, equipment, general facilities etc. in accordance with established procedures
- Interior & Exterior Patrols as required, including but not restricted to parking lots, stairwells, hallways, common area facilities
- Prepare and maintain documentation to ensure thorough training of assigned canine
- Assist and respond to any calls by the K9 Operations Manager for additional service as required.
- Coordinate & Liaise with Police and other Emergency Services Providers as required.
- Provide detailed reports, including: occurrence reports, incident reports, and patrol reports, as required
- Attend weekly K9 maintenance training
- Provide Excellent Customer Service

**Qualifications**:

- 2+ years security experience is preferred
- Valid BC security license (or ability to attain)
- Class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
- Must have the ability to attain enhanced security clearance.
- Must open availability with flexibility to change schedule when required
- Ability to care for K9 after hours and provide a suitable home / friendly environment for a dog
- Must have a suitable vehicle to transport K9 to and from work in an approved crate
- Physically fit to stand/sit/patrol for up to 12 hours per day, carry 50lbs, and walk up and down stairs
- Willingness to accept requisite responsibilities for working with or around narcotics/ explosives in a training medium or in an operational environment
- Experience and skillset in dealing with difficult people
- Exceptional report writing skills
- Customer service and solution orientated
- Able to work independently or with little or no supervision
- Ability to accept direction and guidance and follow instructions
- Ability to pass and maintain EDDHT Validations which may take place in other provinces.
- Ability to commit to a 3-month K9 training program
- Ability to work outside during inclement weather
- High level of personal hygiene with impeccable deportment
