We currently have an opening for a Buyer on a full-time permanent basis. The Buyer will be responsible for a range of duties including but not limited to the following:
**Responsibilities**:
- Purchase and sourcing of assigned MRO and raw materials to meet production requirements
- Analyzes material requirements for raw materials and places orders necessary to meet production schedules considering inventory parameters, lead times, and vendor approvals/ratings. Expedites orders as necessary
- Takes a leadership role when dealing with vendors, customers, and staff to accomplish department objectives
- Actively engaged with the tool crib attendant and the flow of materials in and out of the tool crib
- Interviews vendor representatives to evaluate products, prices, capabilities, and selects/recommends suppliers as required. Negotiates routine purchase agreements within established guideline. Evaluate and assist in the final negotiation of services/products contracts related to assigned vendors
- Ensures invoice discrepancies regarding price, terms, and quantity are address in a timely fashion
- Actively involved in all new product introduction and product changes to provide for a smooth transition from development to manufacturing as required
- Recommend business improvements and growth opportunity through strategic sourcing
- Ensure all regulatory and compliance measures are met
- Drive operational excellence and best practices with the aim to reduce cost every year
- Build relationships and credibility internally and externally engaging others to ensure the most efficient Supply Chain solutions
- Work with off-site vendor processes to coordinate material movements between facilities as required
- Coverage for other team members when they are away
**Education and Experience Requirements**:
- Post Secondary education in business or closely related field, or relevant Purchasing work experience
- CIPP certification or in process would be an asset
- 4+ years purchasing experience with a strong work performance history would be an asset
- Experience purchasing custom machining/stampings
- Have a general understanding of GD&T, KPC and CPK
- Knowledge of VA/VE
- Proven cost savings measures
- Knowledge and capability to handle the successful negotiation and implementation of products and services contracts
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment
- Must be able to obtain a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL)
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central considered a strong asset
