**Responsibilities**:

- Lead bar staff by example; Prompt professional service, quick hands, mínimal waste & attention to detail in following recipes and recommended service styles.
- Address ineffective procedures and make recommendations on implementing more productive routines for bar staff & servers in producing & retrieving drinks.
- Assist management team to ensure the environment in the restaurant supports our core values: warmth, graciousness, efficiency, knowledge, professionalism, integrity, open-mindedness, positivity and having fun. In their absence you will be playing a supervisor’s role as far as monitoring the well being of the team & patrons goes.
- Provide expertise on weekly features and contribute to the creation of cocktails, wine pairings, feature entrees & confidently communicate them to the staff and guests.
- Deal with contractors, vendors, maintenance personal in a way that represents the company well.
- Responsible for keg rotation and the cleanliness of the fridges for the bar area. Maintaining inventory levels while respecting the companies’ margins.
- Communicating with reps from various vendors and using decision making skills to ensure we have enough product available by forecasting upcoming events.
- Sales - A key responsibility the bartender holds over the rest of the team is that the GM will be looking to you to help maintain good repour at the bar. Building relationships and networking with the community to bring in as many friendly faces as we can. Generating business & maintaining those relationships by following up on their next visit.

Big Fish & Open Range began as a unique dockside style service to Calgarians in 2005 having been originally named ‘Big Fish.’ Evenings, weekday lunch, and weekend brunch, all featuring menu items unique to the Big Fish experience were served. Big Fish looked to continuously provided a better experience for guests by staying on top of the latest seafood trends. Big Fish also took pride in being an Ocean Wise Partner.

Open Range opened its doors in 2007 as a premier Calgary steak and chop house next door to Big Fish. It embodied the essence of Calgary; cutting edge, but comfortable and unpretentious. Open Range mixed modern with tradition, serving every cut of meat you would expect but preparing it with an interesting variation of flavours.

The vision of Big Fish & Open Range came to be in 2020 after success in providing a duel surf and turf experience. Rather than operating both businesses independently, the decision was made to combine both restaurant concepts - why have one when you can have both? Thus, customers have the opportunity to order from an expanded menu that offers a larger variety of options to appeal to all tastes and cravings.
