Production Labourer

**Production **Labourer**

**Department**:
Manufacturing, Leduc

**Reports to**:
Production Manager

**Position Summary**:
Labourers perform general duties at the Variperm facility, varying on the specific
department they are working in. Duties include operating basic hand tools, assisting machine operators and welders. Housekeeping and material handling are also components of this position.

This position may involve overtime hours depending on the scope of work.

**Duties**:

- Perform general tasks as assigned by Supervisor
- Handle materials - within the shop and outdoors as required
- Assisting various machine operators in setup; moving materials in and out of the shop using overhead hoist and forklift
- Operate basic hand tools and powered hand tools.
- Operate various equipment as described in company procedures
- Assist in loading/unloading of pipe deliveries/pick-ups
- Stacking/unstacking pipe adhering to strict procedures
- Perform work safely and follow established work procedures
- General shop cleaning
- Adhere to health, safety and quality policies, as well as all company policies and
procedures
- Ensure work areas and clean and organized
- Participate in training and safety meetings
- Other duties as required

- Mechanically inclined, ability to use small hand tools and/or power tools
- Attention to detail
- Team player
- Strong aptitude to understand drawings
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Able to follow and understand both oral and written instructions in English
- Grade 12 basic math skills

**Qualifications/Requirements**:

- Grade 12 or GED - additional education past high school would be an asset
- Manufacturing and forklift/overhead crane training or experience an asset
- Good physical fitness
- Stand or walk for long periods of time
- Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate materials
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs, lift items weighing more than 50 lbs with
assistance from other workers, forklift and/or overhead hoist
- Exposure to fine dust and airborne particles, high noise level

**Pay**:
Pay is dependent on experience. We offer employer paid benefits and an RRSP matching program to eligible employees. Overtime is paid over 40 hours of work per week.
