Reporting to the Resident Programs Manager, the Volunteer Services Coordinator position is an integral member of the leadership team and is accountable for the provision of optimal resident services, continuous improvement activities along with the financial performance of the long-term care home.

**As part of our team, your role as a Volunteer Services Coordinator contributes to our resident experiences in the following ways**:

- Plans, coordinates, directs and monitors the effectiveness of all volunteer programs.
- Promotes a resident-centered care approach that engages residents, family members and employees to provide care that meets the individual needs of each resident.
- Ensures that all volunteers contribute to a positive work culture and work in accordance with our organization's key behaviours, pillars of success, and vision, mission and values.
- Direct management of all volunteers.
- Provides prudent financial leadership by assisting and monitoring the volunteer budgets. Takes appropriate action where variances are identified to bring expenditures in line within the budget.
- Ensures effective and efficient procurement and supply control procedures within the programs department.
- Assists with recruitment, training and in-service education, performance management and other people related functions within the programs department, as required.
- Ensures quality risk management activities are implemented and maintained to reduce and control potential or actual risks to the safety, security and health of all individuals, and to the safety and security of the long-term care home.
- Assists with critical incidents, investigations and appropriate follow-up being taken to resolve any identified concerns as required.
- Ensures compliance with organizational standards, the collective agreement, as applicable and all relevant regulations, and/or legislative requirements and strategic initiatives.
- Responds promptly to address volunteer concerns of residents and family members, mediates appropriate responses to those concerns and implements action plans.
- Acts in a leadership capacity to ensure that volunteers within the long-term care home foster positive customer service with all residents and family members in their day-to-day work.
- Communicates with related Long-term care Health Agencies to promote coordination and/or planning long-term care services.
- Builds positive relationships and liaisons with residents, family members, employees, Government representatives, Physicians, Unions, community agencies and other internal and external stakeholders as appropriate.
- Ensures effective and efficient procurement and supply control procedures within the programs department.
- Participates with the interdisciplinary team and in the strategic planning process for the long-term care home.
- Maintains an organized system of records management for the programs department.
- Ensures that all assigned volunteer committees are properly functioning.
- Ensures an effective and efficient system for admissions and discharging of residents.

**Qualifications**:

- A post-secondary diploma or degree from a community college or university.
- Must have a minimum of one year experience working in volunteer services in the long-term care sector.
- Sound knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act 2007, Ontario Regulations 79/10.
- Excellent leadership, oral and written communication skills and strong relationship building abilities are required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Point Click Care and other computerized documentation systems. Satisfactory vulnerable sector check and TB test.
- Has a passion to promote person-centered care and work with the senior population.
