Residential Handyperson

OakWood is a fourth-generation family run Design & Build business in Ottawa that is proudly owned and operated by the Liptak family. **THE OPPORTUNITY**

We’re looking for a Handyman/woman to join our growing in-house renovation and new homes team. There is room to grow into Service Manager or Project Manager positions. You’ll work side-by-side with the Liptak family, other project managers, designers, estimators, and project consultants in an environment that fosters collaboration and creativity. We’re all problem solvers helping our clients transform their homes into functional yet beautiful living spaces. **WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**
- Project planning and jobsite oversight, including timely identification of problems and proposal of creative solutions for handyman projects, warranty claims and project completion
- Overview of jobsite safety practices and quality control
- Complete some of the work as required such as tile, drywall, cabinetry installs and trim repairs and troubleshoot warranty claims to find the source of the issue
- Maintain relationships with clients to ensure an outstanding customer experience that is second to none

**WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR**
- Minimum of 5 years experience in residential renovations
- You have a thorough understanding of construction specifications within the industry
- Working knowledge of the local building codes and wood frame construction
- Strong structural knowledge
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to get your great ideas across quickly and clearly
- Can read and interpret construction drawings
- Proficient in tile, drywall and trim installation
- Proficient in scheduling software, Excel, Word & Outlook
- Experience working with construction trades while in a leadership role is an asset
- Someone who revels in a fast paced, dynamic environment and has a thirst to always be learning
- A team player who’s always asking, “what can I do to help?”

**WHAT YOU’LL MAKE**

There’s no limits on your income potential as a handyman/woman. You’ll start with a competitive base salary that’s commensurate with your experience. But you’ll also be rewarded for hard work, client satisfaction and productivity. There is room to grow into Service Manager or Project Manager positions.
