**Coordinator, Local Improvements**
**Public Works - Operations Support**
**Contract Full-Time; 8 Months**
**Pay Band: $51,815 - $64,770 per annum**
Reporting to the Supervisor, Revenue Collections, you will manage the billing function life cycle for properties within the Region of Peel which have been assessed special charges resulting from Local Improvement projects and perform the financial and non-financial processes to maintain account status updated and current.

In this role you will_**

- Accurately bill properties based on property frontages for water and sanitary sewer Local Improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with Local Improvement billing procedures as mandated in the Municipal Act.
- Assist in drafting Council Reports and bylaws to support the Committee of Revision process.
- Research and provide accurate and timely responses for routine and non-routine information to external and internal customers including property owners, lawyers and municipalities.
- Execute billing activities including creating and setting up new projects, issue bills, receive and process payments and follow up on delinquent accounts.
- Adhering to the established corporate policies, procedures, practices and by-laws, transfer past due accounts to the applicable local Municipality to attach to the property tax roll.
- Update and maintain the billing system with current account information.
- Prepare monthly financial account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Prepare and maintain performance reports.
- Support the Arrears Certificate process.
- Responsible to coordinate, calculate adjustments and update Sewer Appeal water accounts.

**_ Qualifications_**
**_:_**
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration/Accounting with 3 years related experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles, applicable legislations, regulations and standards, knowledge of the Municipal Act
- Demonstrated strong communications skills with the ability to respond verbally and/or written in a professional manner to complex customer situations
- Interpersonal skills to liaise with a variety of stakeholders
- Effective team player with the ability to work independently
- Demonstrated problem solving skills, research and analytical skills to gather and analyze data
- Mathematical skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy of calculations
- Strong administrative, organizational and time-management skills
- Experience with Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) and PeopleSoft Financials would be considered an asset
**Location**:In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 2 Copper Road worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
**Hours of Work***:35 hours per week
