The Lobby Monitor focuses on the intersection of politics, lobbying, and public policy. We cover the latest hires at Canada’s consulting firms, lobbyists’ strategies to influence policy, and developments from the offices of the federal lobbying and ethics commissioners.
- Hill Times Research specializes in health policy news. We speak directly to the politicians making the decisions, and the influencers trying to push their cause to the top of the political agenda. Recent reporting has covered national programs for pharmacare and dental care, and delays to promised policy changes concerning school food programs and vaping.
- We’re looking for a journalist who is interested in learning about lobbying and health, and talking to insiders when political and policy shifts happen.
- **Responsibilities**:

- Research and report daily on the latest developments in lobbying, health, and federal politics with a focus on breaking news and in-depth analysis;
- Cover press conferences and parliamentary committee meetings;
- Edit and fact-check articles written by other journalists;
- Attend media events and other relevant events to gather information and build relationships with sources;
- Write clear, compelling, and accurate articles that engage and inform our audience;
- Collaborate with editors and other journalists to generate ideas for new content and special projects;
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in lobbying, health policy, and federal politics, and monitor relevant sources for breaking stories; and
- Write newsletters and use other digital tools to promote your work and engage with the audience.

**Qualifications**
- A bachelor's degree in journalism, political science, or a related field;
- At least one to two years of journalism experience with a strong portfolio of published work;
- Excellent writing and research skills with an eye for detail and accuracy;
- Strong editing skills, including an ability to self-edit;
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to distill complex information into clear, concise writing;
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines; and
- Familiarity with the latest tools and technologies for journalism, including social media and multimedia storytelling.
- Other details:

Pay: $45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
