**Maitland B. Steinkopf (MBS) Residence** operates residential facilities for persons living with disabilities, while also providing a community-outreach program geared towards supporting individuals living within their own homes. **MBS Residence** conducts day programs twice a week for our residents as well other community residents. **MBS Residence** strives to provide respectful, compassionate, individual-centered care fostering an atmosphere of dignity and inclusiveness.

**Residential Workers** with **MBS Residence** will fulfill the day-to-day requirements of each of their assigned clients and ensure that the individual’s needs, safety and well-being are at the forefront of all endeavors, while building a relationship of trust.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assist the individual with necessary life skills where required and encourage independent participation as much as possible
- Participate in daily activities with goal of engaging clients in a variety of experiences
- May be required to assist with clinical appointments, client’s family services, transportation, etc.
- Provide personal care to clients (eg bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, etc) as needed
- Prepare and provide meals to the individuals, while also supervising this activity
- Liaise with Residential Manager regarding any client concerns, progress or outcomes
- Ensure that homes provide a comfortable and pleasant environment for all personnel (including basic upkeep and cleanliness of home, laundry, etc)
- Provide updates to incoming shift staff
- Other duties as assigned
- Able to manage shift work (12 hour or 24 hour shifts)

**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE**:

- High School graduation certification required
- Post-secondary education regarding health care aide or within a similar discipline are an asset
- Experience in areas such as respite work, in-home care, personal intensive care and food preparation are an asset
- Other relevant training will be provided

**_This position requires all applicants to have a clear and current Criminal Record check, Child Abuse Registry check, and Adult Abuse Registry check; they must be less than 3 months old. COVID-19 considerations:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided by Maitland B. Steinkopf (MBS) Residence, and is required in all residential homes within the city.
