**The Social Media Specialist & Communications Specialist** manages Avana’s digital presence and internal/external communications to ensure alignment with the company’s mission and goals. This role is responsible for creating engaging content across social media and digital channels, fostering resident engagement, promoting community initiatives, and supporting marketing campaigns. Additionally, the role ensures clear and consistent messaging for residents, employees, and external audiences while reinforcing Avana’s identity as a trusted, community-focused organization.
- Social Media & Content Management: _
- Develop and maintain a social media content calendar, ensuring timely and consistent posting across platforms.
- Collaborate with the Creative Lead to create and schedule posts, stories, and videos to highlight Avana’s mission, values, and community impact.
- Monitor and respond to comments and messages to maintain a positive, interactive online presence.
- Write and edit engaging copy for social media, newsletters, and website updates.
- Collaborate with the Creative Lead to design multimedia content that supports larger marketing campaigns.
- Conduct research on social media trends and incorporate best practices to maximize audience engagement.
- Internal Communications: _
- Develop and distribute internal newsletters, announcements, and updates to enhance employee engagement and alignment with company goals.
- Partner with HR to create employee-focused communications, such as policy updates, team recognition initiatives, and event notifications.
- Ensure internal messaging reflects Avana’s mission and values.
- Resident-Focused Communications: _
- Draft and manage resident newsletters, event promotions, and service updates to foster engagement.
- Coordinate with the Residents Division on communications about property updates, programs, and events.
- Ensure all resident-facing materials are clear, accessible, and tailored to diverse audiences.
- External Communications: _
- Write and manage press releases, media outreach, and public-facing announcements to reinforce Avana’s presence in the community.
- Highlight community initiatives, partnerships, and events through targeted communication strategies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, partnerships, and sponsorship opportunities, ensuring clear and open communication between Avana and potential partners or sponsors.
- Campaign Support & Analytics: _
- Partner with the Digital Marketing & Analytics Specialist to optimize content for paid campaigns, SEO, and performance tracking.
- Track and analyze social media and communication metrics to evaluate performance and provide insights for optimization.
- Prepare reports on engagement, campaign results, and communication effectiveness to inform marketing strategy.
- Community Engagement: _
- Collaborate with the Residents Team and community partners to promote events, partnerships, and charity initiatives.
- Assist in crafting messaging for sponsorships, partnerships, and community programs to align with Avana’s objectives.
**Required Skills & Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in social media management, corporate communications, digital marketing, or public relations.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a focus on clarity and engagement.
- Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social) and familiarity with analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of digital communication platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, HubSpot) and public relations strategies.
- Creative mindset with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada (i.e. Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen).
